Appearance:
Harry is short for his age, thin. Though he's grown in the past years thanks to the diet at Hogwarts, years of malnutrition in his childhood mean he'll always be smaller than average. He has constantly messy black hair, and under round glasses his eyes are startlingly bright green. He has a scar shaped like a bolt of lightning on his forehead, which he covers up as much as possible. When not dressed in Hogwarts uniform he still mostly wears his cousin Dudley's old clothes, which are far too big and serve to make him look even more awkward and small than he already is.

Personality:
Harry is a study in contrasts. He likes to talk and laugh with his friends like any normal 15 year old, but there's a gravity and shyness about him around most other people. He has learned many times over to keep his mouth shut around strangers, so he is hesitant to talk about anything personal. He suffers guilt complexes so deep he'd make any psychiatrist rich. He is moody and tends to not trust people. He is also fiercely loyal to his few real friends, and would risk his life to help just about anyone. Watching Cedric die and helping Voldemort come back last year hit him hard, and his smiles aren't quite as bright as they used to be.

Background:
Harry's earliest memory is a green light and an evil laugh; for years that was his only memory of his life Before Dursleys. His parents were murdered when he was one year old by the Dark Wizard Voldemort, though he was led to believe they were killed in a car accident.

For the next ten years Harry was raised as a Muggle by the Dursleys, a family that despised him and didn't try to hide it. Neglected rather than abused, Harry grew up shut in cupboards and stealing his meals. It wasn't until he was eleven that he finally learned the truth about the Wizarding world and his own parents.

He was reintroduced to the Wizarding world just in time for the reappearance of Voldemort. For the next five years he attended Hogwarts, learned magic, and fought the battle he was apparently born to fight. He has faced Voldemort four times, and four times he has gotten away, though others haven't been so lucky. Year five is drawing to a close, and he is sure there is another meeting coming any day.

Present:
The Wizarding world is no longer a fun escape for Harry. It is now even more dark and dangerous than his life with the Dursleys. Harry has seen death up close and personal, and it haunts Harry in his nightmares and in his thoughts.

The things that used to seem important -- bickering with Slytherins and making fun of Snape behind his greasy back -- are nothing but rare diversions now.

Harry is on a mission. He wants to see Voldemort stopped for good before anyone else can die. He knows it is probably impossible, but his overdeveloped sense of responsibility will make him feel personally to blame for anyone hurt by Voldemort because Harry couldn't stop him fast enough.

His nightmares about death and pain and graveyards and Cedric keep him humble. Not to mention the mental connection to Voldemort that he can't quite shake, that flavors his nightmares and, sometimes, his waking hours.
